Latest News from Mangapps 2010
PLEASE BE ASSURED THAT,CONTRARY TO A REPORT IN THE RAILWAY MAGAZINE, MANGAPPS' MANAGING PARTNER JOHN JOLLY IS VERY MUCH ALIVE AND IN EXCELLENT HEALTH. MANGAPPS RAILWAY MUSEUM IS OPERATING ENTIRELY NORMALLY.
The obituary which appears on page 10 of the August issue of Railway Magazine is erroneous and apparently resulted from a report in the Southend Evening Echo of the death of a person with a similar name. The person in question was not related to John Jolly of Mangapps and had no connection with Mangapps Railway.
Yet more exhibits have recently joined the Mangapps collection. Two of the most notable are the ex LNER 'Running-in', or platform nameboard from Wickford - 'WICKFORD JUNCTION, CHANGE FOR BURNHAM ON CROUCH & SOUTHMINSTER LINE' and a Canadian Pacific locomotive bell formerly carried by CPR 'Hudson' 4-6-4 no 2819. We have recently put on display a collection of pre 1970 railway crossing road traffic signs.
